Frequently Asked Questions
A Hackathon is an exciting event where participants come together to tackle a problem or challenge. Teams collaborate to brainstorm, design, and pitch their best solution. It's an opportunity to apply your creativity and problem-solving skills in a practical and open-ended setting.
It is a chance to work on a creative solution with your team mates and meet industry professionals. There is also a prize pool of over $4500.
You do not need computing/coding knowledge to join. The only criteria you need to join is to be a current student (high school, university, TAFE, etc.) and above 16 years old.
No, While it is recommended to sign up as a team, we can assign you to a team or help you find a team via our hackathon discord.
Teams are 3 to 6 people.
Absolutely! There will be food, drinks, and snacks provided on all three days of the Hackathon. We will take into account all dietary limitations to the best of our ability.
No. However, there are certain parts of the event that you do need to attend. At least one team member must attend the opening session, though we suggest as many team members attend as possible. Your whole team must attend the presentations and award ceremony.
Yes, there are a few things you should bring along. Make sure to bring your laptop (with your charger), as it will be your primary tool for developing and presenting your solution. Additionally, consider bringing any other personal items or tools that you might need to support your work during the event. While drinks and food will be provided, we do suggest bringing a water bottle as there are water fountains nearby to fill up your water bottle during the event.
ComSSA is the club that supports computing, computer engineering, and networking students at Curtin University. We also support non-computing students by providing events and services that give like minded individuals (anyone interested in programming or computing) a space to find support, socialise and communicate.
